Default Cameras in the movies

In the 80s and 90s the majority of cameras in the movies were Nikons.
Haven't really noticed a trend the other way yet. It's understandable
though - movies are a fantasy land where reality has no place.

That's why all the cool photographers in movies have Nikons, because it's
pure fantasy - in real life the cool guys who have it all, have Canons. (big
cannons)

In much the same way that nerdy, geeky, ugly losers get the bikini-clad
chicks in movies, whereas in reality they are limited to solitary
masturbation.*

I guess all this explains why Nikon is falling on its ass these days. For
decades Nikon has invested millions of dollars in product placement in
Hollywood movies, while Canon smartly invested their money in good R&D

* Spiderman 2, classic example, nerdy geek photographer has a Nikon and gets
Kirsten Dunst. That could only happen in a movie!

Read the camera reviews. In the 80's and 90's Nikon 35mm
slr film cameras were constantly getting rave reviews.
The "F" series were king of the hill. (Not to belittle
Cannon, they made and still make a great camera).
IMHO Nikon NEVER quite 'got' the concept of digital.
Their coolpix line was and still is a 'me too' (I don't
think they even make them themselves but out source them!).
Don't get me wrong though, the Nikor lens is second to none,
but what's behind the lens hasn't kept up.

Well thought out, scientifically measured and persuasive argument.

BTW Peter Parker uses a Canon F1 in the first movie; the "This is New Yoik,
buddy!" scene convinced me not to watch the second. Ever.
