Canon A80 "Made in" issues ?
Hi,
after some times spent looking at reviews, photo galleries, forums and so on, i was about to buy a Canon A80. Lately i've heard rumors that the latest A80, which are made in China instead of Japan, seems to suffer from some problems: will not focus properly, takes worse pictures than the A70 etc.. I've first read about it at http://albert.achtung.com/cameras/A80/index.html which is one if not the best A80's reviews i've seen so far. (Note that the warning above has been added recently (2004/05/31)). After that, i found some topics (in truth not many, but all very recent) on various forums (www.dpreviews.com and www.stevesforums.com amongst all) talking about that... but without giving a definitive answer. Did anyone heard about it or had the same problems with the "made in China" ones ? Here at local shops only China ones are available. I don't know what to do... Thank you, Paul. |

Well people have got to talk about something....... how many of the people pontificating actually have an A80 that has given them problems? Did anyone heard about it No. or had the same problems with the "made in China" ones ? My recent A80 is MIC, it is fine, no problems with it, pictures are good. Here at local shops only China ones are available. I don't know what to do... Stop worrying and buy one, they are great cameras. Canon are reputable, it will have the warranty, and in the UK anyway, if you bought one and it didn't function properly, you would be able to take it straight back for a refund/ replacement -- Chris French |
