Looking good

I was a little annoyed that the new FZs feel a bit more plasticky than my
old FZ2, but I suppose the proof is in the pudding and their images are
great.

Nice. Love the shot with the lion's tongue hanging out.

Manual or auto focus?

Did you not have a tripod, or why didn't you just set a longer shutter time
for brighter pics?
The 400 ISO pics are noticeable noisy, but not so terribly noisy as my S2IS
gets at 400 ISO.
Have you tried any noise reduction software?

Have you got the FZ30's internal noise reduction turned on?
