minolta 8MP Dimage

I have seen very little in the press about this camera when they list the
"top 10 digital cameras"

How is this unit regarded among photogs?

It's a good camera, but its AF is a bit slow and flaky, and its lens is
not as good as some of it's competitors. Take a look at the review

This is an SLR group. The camera to which you refer aren't included here.

In short: 8 MP 'small' sensor cameras (whether Minolta or others) are a
bit of Mpix-overkill for their small sensor area. Hence noisy. The
A1/A2 are wonderful 'photographer' cameras in the way they are designed.
