D70 Shot count
Is there a way to know how many photos a D70 has taken? It seems to
reset the count every time you format the CF card. Thanks, Joe |

Go to the menu identified by an icon of a wrench, and find the "File No. Seq.". This should be turned "ON", and it will keep a continuous sequence of file numbers. I go into the same sub-menu at the beginning of the year, and select "Reset" to restart the sequence -- because I got up to about 6000 by the end of the first partial year, and the maximum is (of course) 9999, based on the available number of digits in the filename format. (Unless it will replace the '_' with another digit at need. I haven't tested that, yet. But I also put the images from each download batch into a new subdirectory anyway, so repeating filenames would not be a serious problem for me. I don't see that one with the unix exiftool -- but I *do* see: Shutter Count : 4807 However, that is too low for the total shots, since I believe that have taken over 6000 shots the previous year. I know I've rattled off hundreds playing with the burst mode and maybe thousands doing time lapse but no way I shot that many. Oh well. This might be a good thing to check when buying a "new" camera. -- Paul Furman http://www.edgehill.net/1 san francisco native plants |
