I worked int he photographic trade at the time it came out and it caused
lots of confusion.
I remember Ricoh making a KA mount body as well.


No, they made a range of Xr bodies which could take K-Mount lenses in
aperture priority mode or manual as well as there own Xr lenses


There is no 'trick'. The Mz-60 will not work with K-mount lenses, only KA
and P-AF. You need to look for an MZ-50 which can use old K-mount lenses by
serring the camera in aperture priority mode. Only centre-weighted metering
works.

You might consider an Mz5 or MZ5n as well. These are getting very cheap
second hand.
