"Super Zoom" Cameras

Not 100. The question is "What is the practical limit" for a zoom range, and the OP already mentioned 65x, so 24x is irrelevant as an answer. The right answer is that there isn't a limit, really: it depends on how much quality you want and the cost and weight you're prepared to tolerate. At the long end of that Panasonic's range, f/2.8 is a 38mm aperture. Impressive (if true) ... Definitely true. Spectacular Leica lens. The FZ200, which I used to shoot the 34th America's Cup and other major regattas, has enabled me to get many great shots missed by other pros working with dSLR's. (You can find my FZ200 work on Sail-World.com and YouTube.com/JNavas2) (The new FZ1000 has a similarly great Leica lens. Although it has less range and speed than the FZ200 due to the much larger sensor, it has comparable range and superior performance at a comparable 10MP.) Does this Lumix have any sort of image stabilization or vibration reduction? With such a wide zoom range it seems almost necessary. -- m-m http://www.mhmyers.com |

I did find that it has "Panasonic's Power OIS image stabilization system" whatever that is. Does it work well? -- m-m http://www.mhmyers.com |
