Default Durst 4x5 laborato EM

anyone enterested in a great 4x5 enlarger?
parts are still available through durst usa in oregon.

here is the description:

this is a tall enlarger designed for use with electron microscop negatives
it was originaly a 'point' light source enlarger that used a special small
expensive bulb. because of the size of this special bulb it was possible to
ubtain nerve shattering sharpness. however many photographers feel that it
accentuated the grain, which can always be done using the correct film and
developer combination and many have chosen to avoid condenser heads
altogether to avoid the additional contrast.

mine has been upgraded to except standard bulbs....i use a 200 watt photo
flood.

it came with a pair of 4x5 condensers one of which should be replaced....it
has a small pereferal ding in the glass which can show up at small
aperatures. i solve this by using a diffuser between the light source and
the negative.

the lens board is a three lens turret which accepts removeable adapter
rings...available from oregon...to mount lenses.
the lens holder has tilts and swings, the baseboard also tilts...so that you
can effectivly get a "print time" shift from any film size with out
expensize shift lenses.

This enlarger is a much finner piece of equipment than any omega or besseler
for a black and white artist.. it can also accept a camera head to be used
as a 4x5 copy camera....comes with 24 x35 moving baseboard (it is a floor to
ceiling enlarger...and if that is not enough enlargement ...the head rotates
to 90 degrees for wall projection..

...best of all ...I and my truck, will deliver within 100 miles of washington
DC!!!

condition very clean, however one condensor needs replacement ( i am
contacting a plastics molding person about the posibility of making a new
one (from oregon they are from 600 to 900 and they don't realy need to be
glass anyway...)

i got it for a bargain and will part for it at a bargain..or trade for
recent Fuji S1 or S2 or nikon Digital SLR

any interest please respond to post via the group

thanks kk

gee karl,

I agree, that durst is "way better" than anything currently on the market,
what are you going to charge for it?

dear karl (also),

I dunno!. Are you a starving artist living in the greater washington d.c. or
baltimore/annapolis area?
and do you want to do just black and white fine art using the finest tool
available? and do you hate buying brand new photo gear because it's
overpriced?

well if you can answer yes to all of these questions...lets talk!

if you have a Nikon Based Digital SLR to trade (over 3 megapixels)...you
don't even have to have cash! and I probably hid the fact that there is free
delivery in the DC area..and setup because( it is not light)...

this is the same enlarger that the chief medical photographer at NIH has in
his lab...it is the same enlarger that is at the library of congress photo
duplication service...they also have the 10x10 motorized version with a
color head...sweet....

this enlarger was over $20,000 when new...i purchased it , cleaned it up,
used it alittle, and am now storing it. sometimes they are found on ebay in
4x5 and 5x7, most look rougher than mine, soon I will probably see if anyone
at the bowie camera club wants it.

I can't believe your getting rid of that enlarger! dude!
