method for ICC profile of Digital Camera
I have read on the ICC website that color management has not taken hold
in digital yet but to characterize a digital camera you need white point (illuminant) data right now the choices are to make an assumption of white point from scene data, or use the RAW image, both might be "good enough" approaches, both might need editing but if you had a inexpensive spectroradiometer onsite, you could combine that spectral data with the contrast of the sensor and the spectral distribution of the sensor filtration and make a profile mechanistically if your color management system allowed for that approach, and the spectroradiometer fit the price point of your market probably doesn't have to be perfect spectroradiometry in some applications since illuminance standards have some assumptions and you don't need the data if you know the spectral data of your lighting in this approach same kind of thing if you want to unbuild a negative back to the scene rather than intend it to printing densities for an optical print, lots of medium data needed for the first approach, and that data would probably reduce editing in print intentions too -- Dale |
