Nospam, how did you miss it? :^) unlike a lot of people here, i don't care about typos people make unless there's a reason to comment about it. what matters is what they're trying to say. |

[] We are into our fourth year of extreme drought, and it can get windy, and dusty here. I usually take precautions when changing lenses, but sometimes I am too far away from shelter or my car, and I don't have a pillowcase "change bag" with me. Sometimes it to so windy I just forget about a lens change and just go with whatever is on the camera. The time I had to clean the sensor was after our big fire when we had very bad air quality with lots of smoke and ash being blown about in the air. [] Fortunately this isn't going to be an expedition to parts unknown, I am quite familiar with the area as I am visiting old friends in the Cape Town, Western Cape region, and will probably only be taking the odd regional daytrip. ...and thanks, but I am already up to my ears in mapping apps, online and offline, including maps.me. Thanks for the update on your environment and weather conditions. I had appreciated the fires, but not so much the dusty conditions which you have. Again, down in Africa it can also be dusty - I perhaps only took in the European part of your trip. Same here with maps. It can be fun following a trip on the map, though, whether that be iPad or, more likely these days, the phone. I also take a GPS to record where I've been, and have fun afterwards reliving the trip. I'm currently using a USB stick version: https://www.amazon.co.uk/GT-730FL-Re...rds=gps+canway -- Cheers, David Web: http://www.satsignal.eu |

Mobile Passport is great, as in quite a few US Port of Entry airports you can by-pass the normal ICE check line with a smartphone CBP receipt and a barcode. Fortunately SFO is one of those airports. http://mobilepassport.us Thanks fr the Mobile Passport tip. Are the data in that app secure? I go from JFK to LAX once or twice per year, and they are both terrible airports. This app sounds as if it could really save some time at the airpots. you don't need a passport to go between jfk-lax. .... Yet! |

So I tried to do the Adobe updates last night - I just clicked "update all", and went to bed. At the same time, MS decided to install the latest and greatest update to Win 10. I woke up this morning, and my PC was completely munged. Simply unusable. I determined that it was not an Adobe issue, so I called MS, and... wait for it... they actually got it fixed! None of this reinstall Windows crap, or any other all-day headaches. They remoted in, and just fixed it in minutes. And I could even understand the tech! It's a miracle. Religion would be if they asked my permission. I was commenting on some images in a PSA study group I eft the machine alone to have some think time. I came back and found that the machine was 'updated," and I lost about an hour of work. What a PITA. -- PeterN |

It's the computer version of the Helsinki Syndrome. Stockholm?... Unless you were kidnapped and held in a sauna. Okay, that one went over my head. On top of that, now I see that Helsinki and Stockholm are used interchangeably. I'm floundering. Must have been a salt water sauna. -- PeterN |
