Default Skin tones - little feedback, please...

I took these shots yesterday for a non-profit art studio. The
subjects are all autistic adults taking art lessons. At any rate, the
shots are B&W, and they came off of the camera looking all blue and
grey - very mushy. I tried to process with this in mind, and ended up
adding a warming filter in CS2 at about 13% - 18%. Anyway, do these
look usable? Not in a commercial sense, but for a benefit, blown up
to around 18x24...

Thx,

The problem is that they are way too backlit. The light from behind
them is coming into your camera, reducing you contrast, and giving it
the problems that you are noticing. Use white paper behind them, not
a light source.

Given that, I think they'll be fine for a benefit if they are there to
set the tone. It's not like it's a photo competition. I doubt anyone
will say "i'd have donated $1000 more if the pictures were better".

So blow 1 up and see how they look.
