FS: Minolta Maxxum 7 AF 35mm SLR - Fully Featured Camera!
Fully featured to the Max(xum ;-)), the Maxxum 7 is the 35mm SLR every 35mm
film SLR wants to be when it grows up. Compact and relatively light weight but still sturdy, it containing enough basic and advanced features to challenge even the most experimental intermediate to advanced photographer to new photographic heights for years to come. Those who think this is just a lot of hyperbole haven't either played with or used this camera, the Maxxum 9 may be sturdier/heavier top of the line professional Minolta camera (and at many times the price of the Maxxum 7), but the Maxxum 7 is more fully featured. The Maxxum 7 is Minolta's pinnacle of an easy to use yet fully featured design and gives more bang for the buck than most other 35mm SLRs period, let alone in its price range. (You can tell I really like this camera! :-)). INCLUDES: * MINOLTA MAXXUM 7 CAMERA BODY * MINOLTA MAXXUM 7 INSTRUCTION MANUAL * MINOLTA CAMERA STRAP * MINOLTA BODY CAP * MINOLTA MAXXUM 7 BOX This 35mm SLR autofocus camera is simplicity itself and features a “classical interface” - most if not all of its important features (exposure mode, AF mode, ambient exposure compensation, flash compensation, spot/center weighted or honeycomb metering, AE lock, etc.) are controllable with easy to read/easy to set dials or buttons or switches that cover only one specific function (as opposed to some SLRs that make you hold down a button whilst turning a dial to cycle to cycle through a series of computer-like menus) just like the simple user interfaces on the 600si and Maxxum 9. FEATURES: * Full auto exposure modes - [P] (Full-auto mode Program), Program (shiftable apertures/shutterspeeds)), Aperture priority and Shutter priority) as well as manual exposure. * Built-in 4 f.p.s. motordrive (be ready for fast action or fast changing expressions with this fast built-in motor drive). * A very large (.85x magnification) bright, contrasty viewfinder. * Wide area, central spot or individually selectable/local ("9-point autofocus system with center dual cross-hair") AF sensors. * Shutter speeds from 1/8000 sec. - 30 secs and Bulb. * A metering index scale in the viewfinder that shows present exposure reading, exposure compensation amount and the difference between the camera’s AE locked reading and its present reading (very good for comparison of exposure in different parts of a scene, especially when the AE lock is used in combination with the spot exposure metering mode), and very importantly (for macro/portraiture/landscape type work). * A separate dedicated button for depth of field preview. * A built-in flash w/ a 24mm angle of coverage. * Normal flash sync speed of 1/200 sec. and high speed flash sync up to 1/8000 sec. (when used w/ a compatable Minolta flash), wireless TTL high speed flash (great for off camera flash set ups such as portraiture w/ no calculations necessary) amongst many other features/goodies. * Separately settable flash and ambient exposure compensation/dials. * Autobracketing of either flash or ambient separately or both simultaneously ("the camera can expose a 3, 5, or 7 frame flash exposure or ambient exposure brackets in 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, or 1.0 EV increments"). * Rear (shutter curtain) flash sync (useful for those long exposure flash/ambient lit shots where you want the sunject's (moving car, dancer, whatever) motion blur from the ambient light to trail behind the sharp flash exposures instead of in front of the subject). * Built-in Infrared AF illuminator assist light (throws a pattern on the subject so that the camera can not only focus at extremely low light levels but in the dark! - other cameras w/o this feature usually use the built-in flash to send out pulses to focus which can annoy the subject and cause a delay between when you want to take the picture and when the camera will allow you to take the picture). * Multiple exposures. * Separately settable AF and (motor) drive modes. * "The ability to switch between AF and MF using the AF/MF control button without changing holding positions." * 3 convenient memory modes to set/recall/configure the camera to when you want to use a conveniently grouped set of settings (exposure mode, focus modes, flash and ambient compensation, etc.) for a particular subject/lighting/exposure situation w/o having to fiddle with setting a whole bunch of different settings each time you encounter a new/different subject/situation - very convenient and simple! * 35 custom functions to tailor the camera's operation to your needs. * A large Navigation Display LCD on the camera's back that tells you in plain English what those custom functions are, gives a readout of which areas within the scene are over or under your main exposure (very helpful!), etc. "If desired the display can be illuminated." * Most importantly, the camera records exposure and other data (shutter speed, aperture, lens focal length, ISO, exposure mode, etc.) for up to 7 rolls of 36 exposure film (this is very valuable for learning either on the spot or after the fact what settings you took the shot at). * STF mode in which "the images are reproduced faithfully as to shape, with softened edges." This setting called "Smooth Trans Focus" allows almost any lens to act like a specially made/expensive Minolta STF lens, smoothing out the out of focus portions of the image w/o the need for a special STF lens by multipley exposing 7 shots of the same scene/subject (best used for still subjects (like flowers, etc.) w/ a tripod. * A built-in PC terminal for using "flash units which can not be connected to the accessory shoe" - very useful for use with studio flash (monoblocks, power packs w/ flash heads, etc.). * And lots more... There are some tiny blemishes in the viewfinder but this is barely noticeable (and I do mean _barely_ and I do mean _tiny_ - they're real/ultra tiny and transparent and I have to hold the camera up to a light/bright subject to even see/notice them them) but I wanted to mention them anyway out of honesty and will in no way affect what's on film or most likely the viewing experience (the viewfinder is extraordinarily bright and contrasty and probably one of the best AF viewfinders around and the blemishes are virtually invisible). Other than these extremely minor (and I do mean minor)/barely visible blemishes I would rate the camera at the very least an Exc + and possibly in the Exc + to Exc ++ range - its not Mint but in really nice condition! You should be really pleased with this camera, I know I am! :-) Asking $425 Add $10 for Shipping/Insurance Will ship via U.S.P.O. 1st class or U.P.S. w/i Continental U.S. only.
