An old angle on an old plane, but it was fun getting up close and personal
with some of these fighting machines.

BTW, it pays to be tall when you want a handheld shot top-side of a fighter
jet.

Take Care,
Dudley

I see you like airshows. So do I. And I have a godaweful huge number
of photos from the tons of shows I've been to over the past 30-40
years.

Here's some from the last one I went to:

Hello, Dudley:

Nice shot! I prefer the piston-engine planes of World War II vintage, though,
and have long worshipped the devastating Republic P-47 "Thunderbolt" of the
U.S. Army Air Forces (forerunner of the USAF).

When I was much younger, my first part-time job was working for Stan
Reynolds at his museum in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. Shortly after I started, he
bought a P-51 Mustang, and if I'm not mistaken, he flew it back to
Wetaskiwin where he intended to put it on display.

I was only about 13 at the time, and after a personal tour of the plane, I
was given the task of cleaning it up. It was great, and I'll never forget
it.

Take Care,
Dudley

Hello, Dudley:

No, no...no! Don't even broach the subject of that extremely overrated
P-51. This scrawny, pony-come-lately was wrongly allowed to steal my
beloved P-47's "thunder," if you'll pardon the pun. g
