Default Jobo LPL 7700 6x6 Negative Carrier?

Hi Folks,

I have just picked up a Yashicamat 124G medium format camera, I believe
the negatives this produces are 6x6.

I also have a Jobo LPL 7700 enlarger and the negative carrier for this
is suited to 35mm slides, but by taking the middle of the negative
carrier out and turning it round, it also holds 35mm negatives fairly
tightly. If I leave the 35mm "holder" out of the negative carrier, the
gap is 3 1/2inches by 2 1/2 inches. The negative carrier also has black
"slides" that allow me to adjust how much the image is shown.

What do I need to get to allow me to print the 6x6 negatives that the
Yashicamat 124G produces?

Sorry for the cost posting, but I think the people who follow the two
groups this is posted in probably know the answer!

Thanks,

Andrew McCall

The answer appears to be one you already have,....6x6 is 2 1/4 square
therefore it seems that all you need to do is adjust the moving side of your carrier
down from 3 1/2 perhaps vice versa,.....and maybe tape some black paper on the
non moving sides......on the top or bottom of the carrier. Good for a start
if not permanent.

I've got an LPL7700, and if it is the same as I have, you have a
'univeral' negative mask - you adjust the 4 sliders to get the mask the
right size for the inserted negative(whether this was a standard part I
dont know, but it sounds from your description that that is what you
have).
To get good quality 6x6 prints though you may need a longer lens
(~75mm), as the usual 50mm lens used for 35mm negs may cause vignetting
of the image projected onto the baseboard.I've got a 60mm lens, and it
works fine for me for both 35mm and 6x4.5 negs.

Most of these type carriers have plastic or metal inserts for most formats
and a set of glass "universal" inserts for the oddball stuff. Check with
JOBO.
