Default 10MP with a single Zoom

I'd be a bit wary about the new D40 and D40x if I were you. The camera house
does not have a built-in autofocus motor, so that you can only get autofocus
with the relative handful of Nikon lenses that have their very own built-in
focusing motors.

22 of 'em made by Nikon. I think that's what he was referring to, since he
said "Nikon lenses," not "Nikon mount lenses."
The Canon works with every EF mount lens out there, which makes 22 a
"relative handful," or even 39 for that matter.

Exactly and counting as more and more are released. Canon employ this
strategy and nobody bats an eyelid !

The D40 is a GREAT camera and winning awards left, right & centre.

If you have a collection of old Nikon lenses I agree this could be an
issue but for a new DSLR owner no big deal whatsoever

Motor in the lens I guess.
