I found the same true in cycling. I got caught up in the high tech bike
stuff and bought a CF bike. It was the biggest POS I've ever ridden. All
the bikes I ride are steel now except one -race bike- which is aluminum.

for me...

OT for sure, but both my bikes' cables froze up but worse, I ordered
studded tires and they never came in. It's hell riding on the lake stuck
in gear and sliding so I'm walking it. A light bike is a bad thing under
these circumstances. But come spring I might just try one of those spendy
CF jobs, so what's wrong with them? Specifically?
