Farmer stain - depending on paper brand?
Application of Farmer (split and combined) to Agfa PE and baryta
papers result in an ugly yellowish stain. Thiocarbamide is of no help. I wonder if there are some brands which allow highlight reduction by Farmer without staining. (I am not looking for alternatives like iodine, persufate, permanganate etc.) |

(I am not looking for alternatives like iodine, persufate, permanganate etc.) Are you refixing the paper after using the reducer? Either form of Farmer's will leave some halide residue behind. You might also try clearing in a weak bisulfite (or metabisulfite) bath, which may remove the stain. The final fixing bath is still necessary. -- --- Richard Knoppow Los Angeles, CA, USA |
