Default Nikon offers "service" for its dirty D600

Kind of wonder if the service is just a cleaning (in which case you'd
be sending it multiple times) or they actually do something key to
eliminate the grime? In any case, I doubt they're going to subsidize
multiple returns for cleaning at their expense. This is also the first
camera issue I can remember that Dpreview and other sales sites
actually mentioned before being bombarded with complaints from users.
What has surprised me is no one who owns one works in a lab with a
mass spectrometer where they could test the dirty substance to see
exactly what it is.

Nikon have made a new claim wrt how they put the D7100 together:
http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/dslr...features03.htm
(bottom of page)
"Additionally, Nikon takes further, multidimensional measures; it
operates certain body parts prior to assembly to prevent dust dispersion
after mounting, and enables the user to reduce or delete any spots with
optional software."

Nikon will know exactly what's going on. The way that they have dealt
with "issues" recently is appalling PR.
