Default Veiwer image is better than downloaded image

Hi,

I'm using a Nikon CoolPix 5400 camera and notice that the images seen in the
pop-out viewer screen are much better than the images are after I download
them or print them. The images in the viewer are bright and colorful, but
once they transferred to my computer, they are dark and almost under
exposed. The same thing happens when using the flash.

I tried the camera in AUTO and in A modes, but only saw a little improvement
(less noise, little brighter) in the A mode.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dave

Perhaps your monitor needs calibration.
If you have Photoshop, use their Gamma utility to do this.
If you do not have PS, ask Google how to calibrate a monitor. There are
several sites that can help with this process.
