I just noticed that if one takes a selfie with a smartphone the image is
reversed. (Saw one recently with a reversed sign.) I would think it
would be trivial for smartphone cameras to automatically set things right.

they do.

smartphones show a reverse image when framing because people are used
to looking at a mirror, but the final photo is not reversed.

if for some reason your particular phone is reversing the final photo,
then there's a problem with your phone or its settings, not smartphones
in general.

Oh, heck...I found the setting

by default, "save as flipped" was turned off

Oh, I noticed it too! In addition, I found this topic interesting and that's what I found http://weedit.photos/2017/iphone-pho...ps-and-tricks/ What do you think about this?

I tend to use my phone camera more and more simply because I always have
it with me. It seems to be good quality too.

I use mine if I need to take a shot of my camera.

And I assume you use your camera if you need to take pictures of your phone
:-)

Precisely.
