Default Anti-halation backing

I've searched the web and haven't come across this anywhere; my apoloiges if
hundreds have already asked...

Is it possible to wash unexposed film in distilled water in darkness, then
reload the film, in order to remove the antihalation backing to get that
neat "flare" effect that Kodak HIE Infrared has? Anyone tried that with
color or b&w? I understand the dye is water soluable.

On that note, I understand that this is at least possible with Kodachrome,
as the rem-jet coating is on the back.

Thanks!

-Jonathan
