That's medium format for you

Either way, a mirrorless medium format with shorter flange distance wouldn't be
able to use all the premium glass out there without an adapter, which wouldn't
make it much smaller anyway.

The new sensors are so small that its really only full frame and a half.

It would still need room between the mount and the sensor to be
compatible with legacy lenses so wouldn't make it smaller.

Oddly enough, the camera's balance in the hand is really good. But you are right, a mirror in such a camera is ridiculous.


Unless you consider shutter shock.
