Does anyone have any experience with using a Canon 5D or Canon 1v shooting
infra-red? Alternatively, let me ask this. The old Olympus C 2020Z was a
great IR camera but only 2 Megapixel, is there a more up to date higher
resolution camera equally well suited to IR photography? Thanks for any
informed input.

$500 to modify a 5d, otherwise the exposure will be long.

Look at the articles and IR tests of cameras he
http://www.dimagemaker.com/specials/.../digitalir.php

The Canon's will do fine if you don't mind long exposures.

Cheers,

Wayne

Well, I was "informed" by a B&H newsletter about this little baby. I don't
know anyone using it, but it sounds really cool:

Nikon's little D40 is supposed to be very sensitive to it. The
Canon's not so much.
IMO, there should be IR versions of DSLRs without built-in hot
mirrors. You can always do like
Leica, add a filter to the lens. You could also shoot in the
ultraviolet with an appropriate lens.

I'm quite happy with my IS-1. If you'd like to see some examples, I
have quite a few on flickr,

All the color IR there is with the IS-1, and all of the newer monochrome
IR is, too. Haven't shot any IR film in a year.

Fuji offers 3 models of IR/UV cameras;

The discontinued Sigma SD10 and the newer SD14 have a removable dust
protector that is also the camera's IR filter. Remove the filter (about a
twenty second operation on the SD10 and quicker on the SD14) and you have a
great IR camera.
