I got home from dinner last night as the last of a storm was hitting. I
could still see it raging over the ocean.
Took off with my tripod, camera and cable release.

I only got one decent shot as the cable release was acting up and not
holding in bulb.

That row of lights is a coal ship off the coast.

Now, Bob, we're talking about a photographer here. I think it's more
appropriate to compare with the f/stop of a cheap digital camera. After
all, shoe sizes can easily exceed 8...

Dudley:
Oh, of course, how inappropriate of me.
I should have known better and I shall remain forever deeply in your
debt for pointing that out.

Very nice shot. Some of the others on your flickr page are
just awesome too. My biggest challenge in doing lightning
shots is finding somewhere to take them from. Looking out
over the range escarpment would give some awesome shots, but
normally when there is a storm the range gets shrouded in
cloud, so you can't see anything except fog.
Going west over the Darling Downs might be ok, but yet to
find a good spot where you have decent visibility, without
being at risk of getting hit. Storms move very fast around
here, so you don't get much time to get to a location, and
having got there, you don't get much of a chance to take
shots before the storm is literally on top of you.
Any tips in getting good locations would be greatly
anticipated

I find it rather interesting all your comments this year have been
directed at my pictures and always negative.
Can you please post some of your photos so I know who the genius is that
hates my photos.

That, and providing the parameters by which you made the judgment, would at
least show a modicum of intelligence and maturity.

Why, mine would be slated no matter. All because this photo isn't very good.
