Default 5 Years Thoughts for 91106

Time to move on, life goes on. As we focus on friendships and what
really matters one thing becomes apparent, that is how important it is
to have the rights and freedom to express ourselves in this world.
Photography can be a great means of expression, tempered with
social responsibility.

I decided along time ago never to fear what someone can do to you.
I fear only fear not living each day to it's full potential, so I am
heading to Monday morning full of promise, its just another day and
another year. Blessings to all.

Such as Saudi Arabia (the House of Saud ...)

and Pakistan (Pervez Musharraf ... ?? ... !)

.... sorry, I couldn't resist. Those are
friends of America (well, "friends"), not the
friends of Americans.

Excellent point. Many Americans want to over-react to situations like
9/11, forgetting more people have died every year from terrorist acts
around the world than in the WTC, and people from many nations died
there. And many American want to make it a singular event in our
history forgetting the US government set the stage for it going back to
WW II. And many Americans are willing to sacrifice civil rights out of
fear which isn't as real as we think. No terrorist has been captured,
arrested and convicted from all the airport screening. And all the
restrictions on photography hasn't stopped any terrorist act.

Many Americans forget we're looking for a needle in one haystack in a
field of haystack. You're looking for something sharp and shiny, and
you don't examine every piece of straw to prove it's straw. I find it
interesting how people define "terrorism" but then decide the Oklahoma
City bombing wasn't an act of terrorism and no one suggested all the
radical reforms after that act. Why? Because it was done by a white
American and his anger against the US government?

Sorry, couldn't resist comment either. It's not about terrorism, but
power and control, almost always at the expense of democracy.

September 11, 2006, from Lloyd Erlick,

Yes, psychological manipulation of electors
and taxpayers by means of emotionally loaded
stimuli, such as terrorism, patriotism, and
(later ...) ending the war with honor. Oh, I
forgot 'supporting the troops.'

(Is there a worse way to show support than
electing George Bush Commander in Chief??)

More and more it just reminds me of Orwell,
1984.

Ironically I lived that book for a time, paranoid & delusional.

At one point in time I had a "friend" who encouraged my bad behaviors
I smoked or shall we "toked" . Never the less, there was one trip in
particular I ventured to DC to an abstract museum on the mall to "see"
hidden meaning within the art. I became fearful of all the weird stuff
and my so called friend played upon my fears- you see I had read the
book 1984 that same year (of 1984). I was having all sorts of weird
premonitions and thoughts for some time. I at one point thought hemp
makes one high because its steeped in the blood of the people from the
countries its harvested in. In any event I ran away during that trip and
continued to run for many years, only to realize I was as evil as
anyone-per haps more so,...especially now that new experiences are added
to that paranoia. (yet that early knowledge gives me comfort of who I
am).

BTW as an interesting side bar my friends father worked at NSA and did
something regarding electronics ? In any event he died one day of a
heart attack at home in the bathroom.(rather a shame- always someone I
liked)...he smoked something on the order of two packs of cigarettes a
day. Seems we are never as bad or invincible (righteous??) as we think
we are.

Cheers everyone

The funniest thing is if the people of these places (you mention) wanted
freedom surely in number they could arise and topple the figure head.
Surely it could happen and will as destiny summons all to action. Yet
without leadership all become lost - so what does that tell us of the
human being? Fear of change and of making ones fragile living less. When
one has almost nothing one believes times can get better, when one has
nothing it is so.

The history of the world is steeped in bloodshed and will always be so

September 12, 2006, from Lloyd Erlick,

Sadly, this is the root of all evil.

It's easy to talk of leadership, but its
direct implication is far more of a problem —
followership.

If humans had less inclination to follow, the
urge to lead, to control, to decide, to give
orders would have nowhere to go.

I regard the human urge to follow as the
direct cause of the bully. It is also the
cause of the link between the bully and the
leader.
