Large Format Clubs/Groups?
Hello again,
Once again I'm calling for info on any large format groups or clubs anywhere in the world. If you know of any groups or clubs that would like to be listed on the large format photography site (www.largeformatphotography.info) or in View Camera magazine please let me know. I maintain the (currently very small) list both on my site and on Tuan's site and I also supply the same info to View Camera for publication. Surely there have to be more than a handful of large format groups around! No need to be formal groups with officers and dues and that stuff. Our own Midwest Large Format Asylum has several dozen people on the mailing list and we manage about 10 outings per year all without officers or dues. Reply here or to my email address (make the obvious change)! Thanks, Sherman http://www.dunnamphoto.com |

Sherman - This summer, I encountered a group of LF photographers at a workshop in New Jersey. While not a formal "organization", this group of guys knew each other and conspired on field trips, experimenting with equipment, etc. The absence of a formal organization actually seemed to make things more interesting cuz they could concentrate on photography rather than "clubbiness". I would be interested in finding a similar group in the Albany-Saratoga area of New York, perhaps even branching as far east as Manchester, VT, and as far west as Cooperstown, NY. Louie |

Louie Louie, It does seem that large format photographers are a pretty independent breed. Imposing rules on such a group is difficult! Our own group operates without rules or any officers, dues or any other trappings of a club. It seems to work! Maybe you would be interested in being the contact to start a group in your area? I'd be happy to add a listing for your potential group! Sherman |
