I don't really want to spend more than 150€.

I know it's not the place to ask, but I just happened to be here.

Cheers.

I've not used them but...
If you just want a few negs done have you thought about looking for
someone or a service that'll do them for you.

One really have to define what the quality one require is. Could this thing do?

No idea. Slides = negatives?

If the holder takes strips then you can correct in post, make sure that it can.

Oh yes he did.

Not really. The boxes of ol' family memorabilia is filling a good part

I'll be moving a few blocks while my flat, and its building gets a well
needed makeover and will thus be off line for some time...

I guess there's no way to get wireless near where you are then.

No which is why I altered what I was thinking of as a method of scanning.

Scanning Kodacolor Discs may seem a tad stupid but yet a challenge! I
had a looksie at shoot of one of the and on top of my head I'd say that
removing the plastic holder and put it on a highress flatbed could be a
solution. Film is fading. Don't waste time... Remove that plastic and
throw them all at thou scanner now!

You could prove you're more sober than me but you'd fail at that too no doubt.

I thought there might have been some way around it.

we had a network failure here about an hour ago 'internet' gone, I
looked everywhere for it, even the emergency phones had all stopped
working which is pretty clever isn't it, I guess some genius here
decided that emergency phones dying was a good idea.

That's one reason why copper still has it place...

yes and that is why I didn't think the standalone scanners which are
really meant to scan 35mm film and above usually in a strip or mounted
wouldn't be much use so yes a flatbed hi-res scanner would be best but
not many people would consider buying them to scan a few negs. In this
situation might be better to go to someone that has done it before
maybe a commercail enterprise and pay someone to do it rathe rthan
spend 3-400 on a flatbed scanner that might not get used again.

Some folks know folks that might have an Epson perfection 5-800 around
and the OP did not seem to have that much to scan.

That's what I was impling in that if you only have a few then it's
usually best to get someone else to do it for you rather than buy the
equipment and spend the time doing it oneself.

What sort of res does said scanner need to produce? I have a 1200
flatbed. Thing is, even if it were up to the job, I wouldn't have a clue
where to start.

I have a Reflecta x7-Scan

From http://www.photographyblog.com/news/reflecta_x7/

The Reflecta x7-Scan is a standalone device that enables users to
quickly digitise their 35mm slides as well as 110 and 125 format films.
Rather than scanning the film frames, the Reflecta x7 uses a
14-megapixel area-array sensor for the digitisation, which promises to
deliver similar results to a conventional 3200ppi film scanner. This
solution allows the Reflecta x7 to produce a digital image in just 2
seconds. The new addition to the Reflecta range features a 2.4" LCD
screen, comes with an integrated SD-SDHC card slot, and boasts a battery
operating time of 2.5 hours. The device comes supplied with film holders
for three mounted slides, film strips up to six exposures, 110mm film
strips up to eight exposures and 126mm (instamatic) film for up to seven
exposures.

---

As it says, it is not high quality, but it is very good for scanning old
negatives for the collection fast, and then decide which one to have
scanned by a professional.

note that it only 'promises to deliver similar results' to a scanner.
too bad they can't be sued for a broken promise.

much better results can be had using a modern digital camera and a copy
attachment, such as this:

sing-the-new-es-2-digitizing-adapter

since it attaches to the lens, it will work with more than just nikon.

if that's all you want to do, then it's *much* easier and cheaper to
use a smartphone. there are even apps that will do the reversal.

or better yet, look at the actual prints that were originally made from
the negatives.

Kinda expensive since you need a macro lense to begin with...
