Default Feeling old..

I was walking around this weekend in lower Manhattan when I spied
a young woman with a Miranda 35mm Camera. I asked her about it
and she said it belonged to to her grandfather!
And I just got rid of one last year...

In my experience, once doesn't feel old until one _is_ old. :-

My first SLR was a Miranda. Bought new in 1969. Does that mean I'm
old, too? (Turning 50 this month, actually). I haven't had mine in
ages, though; I swapped it for a Pentax after 3 or 4 years. That was
after I'd added the Leica M3, so quick lens change wasn't as important
on the SLR, I mostly used that for extremes -- wide, long, closeup.

All long gone now.

If it makes you feel better, I was 36 the first time I became a Grand
Father. That's not B.S. I was 19 when my daughter was born, and she was 17
when she had her first. So, that changes the perspective a bit. Her
grandfather could be 53...

Don't feel bad. What do my first computer and my first bicycle helmet have
in common? They're now pieces (same models) in the Smithsonian. Yes, Museum
of American History. You wanna talk old? Pull up a chair, join me for a
Cuban, and I'll pour us a shot of Glenmorangie (18 years old, of course).

Of course, we could quote that Americans think 100 years is a long time
and the English that 100 miles is a long way.

;-)

Time for some Bowmore and don't ruin it with a cigar ... it's
smokey enough on its own.
