"fEE" error with Nikon F100
Hi,
Bear with me here. I'm not a camera guy -- I'm just trying to solve a problem for my wife. She has a F100 and D70, and she shares several Nikkor lenses between them. Both cameras have worked fine with all her lenses in the past. The F100 is currently displaying "fEE", even though the lens is correctly set to the minimum aperture, and the aperture lock switch is engaged. I've cleaned the contacts with alcohol, wiggled the lens, changed the film speed, removed the batteries, tried another lens, etc., but I can't seem to get it to work. Coincidentally, performing the two-button reset does not appear to do anything. The "custom" message blinks like it's resetting, but then the display returns to normal, and the "custom" message is still there and the factory settings have not been restored. I don't know if this started today, or if it's always been like that. Before we send it to Nikon (had to send the D70 back to Nikon twice in the first six months), can any of you Nikon gurus out there tell me something else to try? TIA Jared |

TIA Jared Not really, and I have an F100. All I can think to try is to take the batteries out for a minute or so and see if it resets. Also, try another lens and make sure it's the camera and not the lens. -- Regards, Matt Clara www.mattclara.com |

If you have several lenses which are okay on one body and all give the same bad result on the second, then there's something wrong with the second body. The best guess is that it's not sensing the position of the aperture lever correctly. I'd try two things: 1. Using a can of compressed air, gently clean out all visible dirt, etc in the mount 2. Remove the batteries and leave them out for a few minutes or so. If neither of these help, I'd send the body for repair. Norm |

"fEE" error with Nikon F100
More info please:
What lens is causing this to happen? A Nikkor, or a Sigma - Tamron - Tokina brand? What batteries are in the camera? If you are trying to use NiMH rechargeable AA cells, you may not have the 'exact' power Nikon wants putting juice in to the F100. The 1.2v cells are not exactly 1.5 volt cells the F100 is supposed to be powered with. = = = Jared wrote: Hi, Bear with me here. "fEE" error with Nikon F100
Thanks everyone for the tips!
I pulled the batteries (new Energizer 1.5v Lithiums) for a few minutes, and was able to reset the camera. We've tried four lenses, and all but the G lens result in the "fEE" message on the F100. All lenses work on the D70. The lenses a These result in "fEE" -------------------------------------- Nikkor 50mm 1.8 AF Nikkor 28-70mm 2.8 AFS Nikkor 70-210mm 5.6 D This lens works -------------------------------------- Nikkor 17-55mm 2.8 G ED It's my understanding that the G lens doesn't utilize the same contact points as the others, but I don't know the specifics of this. I'll try doing a thorough cleaning of the F100 mount and see if that helps. Otherwise, it'll probably be on its way to Nikon soon. |
