Last night a CD shattered in my CD-RW drive!

Sat spinning merrily away and suddenly, CRACK! one dead drive, one dead CD,
one corrupted Windows system file!

I've seen a few CDs that would fail to read, but I've never seen one
come apart. Maybe an old one that has set in the sun and become
brittle? I can't imagine one actually letting go like that.

I was going to throw out some old ones that I used for back up of my
financial files. Wearing leather gloves to keep from getting cut, I
was finally able to break one. I decided to burn any more I throw
out. It's far too much work to break one. (and makes a mess)

I put one in the microwave once. I figured it would get hot and
soft so I could bend and twist it. Wrong. The only thing got bent out of
shape was my wife. Very bad idea.

Too many variables ... Are they a certified testing lab?

I'll believe it when I see it.
