[SI] Next mandate selection
Last month the Committee asked for suggestions for a new mandate.
We received 43 suggestions. If We missed any, please tell us. Rather than the committee picking the mandate, we are known to be biased, We suggest a vote on the following list. From the list below, post your favourite 5. 'duck, because you posted nearly 1/2 of these, you are prohibited from picking from your own list. The committee discussed this exception for nearly 2 seconds before deciding firmly on it, so we hope you'll respect our decision. We'll tally the replies and post back the results. If we need a runoff vote, we'll try to do that before Sunday evening. Please: 1) Reply simply with up to 5 choices from the list. (edit away those you don't want) 2) You may embellish the choices with comments related to the choice. 3) Do not start sidebar discussions. Nine out of ten abandoned architecture subjects down here are foreclosed houses and decaying strip malls. Do you live in the North East? Have you seen the re-vitalization? (Some call it "gentrification." Yes! There are a lot of issues with denigrated inner cities, but that issue is not limited to the US North East. http://www.torontoslumtourism.com/our-facts.php A short walk outside of Henry's is all he needs. -- Peter |

Perhaps we should add these links: http://67.20.89.159/wrolandhamilton/tag/toronto-abandoned-buildings/ -http://www.ontarioabandonedplaces.com/search.asp?city=Toronto Derelict buildings are not limited, nor exclusive, as Rich suggests. the above links show he could effectively compete on that subject. Well, those *are* timely subjects for a decaying architecture mandate. :^| The challenge in Florida might be to find the most opulent foreclosed house in the state. Extra points if it belonged to a gangster, druglord, political boss, or other famous celebrity. Bob |
