Nikon TC question

Will the Nikon TC-17E II AF-S, AF-I Teleconverter work with the Nikon DX
55-200 AF-S 4-5.6 tele lens?

Looks like the answer is yes, but AF may not work (or may not work well)
because of small aperture.

No.

Technically it will work with all long AF-S lenses. But look at the
compatibility chart at

and pay attention to page 3, note AF (1).

That's such a poor lens, I bet Nikon could not imagine anyone using a
teleconverter that costs more than twice as much as the lens.

I guess you could use it at 4, but not at 5.6, at least not with good
results.

No. And even if it did, your lens would effectively become a 5.6 -
9...only useable in very good light at the long end.

According to Nikon USA's spec sheet on the TC-17E, it is not useable
with ANY DX lenses. And even if it was, you would then have a f/6.3 -
f/9 lens...only worth a damn in very good light.
