Hi Ed,

Must be the time of year. Last week my wife an I spooted a hawk, or
what she thought was a hawk. I showed her your picture and she said
it looked just like that except she thought the one we saw had more
red in the tail. I was driving.

We are about 5 miles due North of Massapequa.

Alan

I've been seeing quite a few more hawks than I normally do out east in
Manorville. Maybe Saturday when I'm in Massapequa, where I'll be sure to
stop at All-American, I'll spot some.

So wait, is EVERYONE on this NG from Long Island?

Suddenly my 2007 "Girls of the Green Acres Mall Food Court" pictorial
calendar has some more potential buyers. Verrrrry interesting.

Grew up just north of you, went to Half hollow Hills HS, before there was
an east and west. Haven't lived there since my early college days, but
having family up there I visit once in a while these days.

I actually moved here from Connecticut about a week before the Pine
Barrens fires back in 1995. But I've been an Islanders fan since 1975.
(They used to be on WHN after the Mets, and I didn't know any better!)

The one problem with the congestion is that it comes with a feeling of
claustrophobia that you don't get elsewhere. If you're in NJ or CT or
Westchester, the congestion is one way, and escape is the other way. On
the Island, you're trapped in.

I'm 46 and I've been a NY Rangers fan longer than the Islanders have been in
existence. It was tough in the late 70's and early 80's being a Ranger fan
when all of your friends were Islander fans and the Islanders were a
dynasty. But we did have 1994, that could be my once-in-a-lifetime moment.
I remember kidding around and telling my father after the Rangers win "now
you can die happy". He died six days later, only 60 years old. He was very
healthy, it was totally unexpected.

The congestion is getting worse by the year, at least it's not congested out
here on the east end except for the summer when we get the Hampton's crowd
passing through each weekend.

I'm from the "bad" part of town. Originally our post office was
Wyandanch,
then later Wheatley Heights. Just west of Burrs Lane before it ends at
Straight Path. Not to be confused with "Dix Hills" which is more likely
associated with HHHSs these days.

I grew up in a not-too-great area - Brentwood. It's become worse over the
years, that's why we moved east. We also simply like living out east, it's
a bit more spacious. It's still a good place to live, very desirable to
move into.
