Default Photo bagpack

Hi,

I know it's not reallt 35mm, but at least it's for my 35mm camera gear ;-)

I was today looking at different backpacks for my photo "hikes". I
usually do full day (6+ hours) hikes and need both food and around 1Gal
of water when I hike. My goal is to just carry a single bag, if not for
any other reason then because my photo gear is rather small, but my
3001Pro tripod must be with me.

So I looked today at an Orion Trekker, Orion AW and a Rover Pro AW. The
Orion Trekker was horryble, imho, to carry (mostly due to the top part
not having any stability at all) and didn't have any resonable solution
for the tripod. The Orion AW (two seperate parts) had horrible, again
imho, shoulder straps, which was sitting really bad due to the two part
design. The Rover Pro AW was sitting really well, but was just too big
(at least outside) for me.

Apparently my "local" photo store didn't have all the Lowepro bags and
when I came how I saw that there is a Rover AW, which is smaller than
the Rover Pro AW, and there is a (at least used to be) Rover Light.

Does the Rover Light not exist any longer? Have anyone compared the
Rover AW to it's Pro cusin? On some(*) website I saw that he wrote that
the space in the Rover (non AW, is that Light?) was smaller than Orion
Trekker - is that true? Are there really not any photo bagsack which
have the size of the Orion Trekker, but with decent quality for daytrips
and a tripod?

How much camera gear are you taking?

I use a fairly heavy LowePro Photo Trekker AW, which holds a lot of gear and
has a tripod holder on the back. I use a couple of optional side pouches to
carry water (or raingear).

This works great if you have a body and several lenses; if you're only taking a
couple of lenses one of the smaller models should do fine too.
