Default Kodak in China

Needed some 35mm film the other day. Picked up a 5 pack of Kodak 200 at
a local supermarket. The package was labeled "Made FOR Eastman Kodak in
China" Has this happened across the board with my Kodak 120 films too?
Is Kodak making the stuff in China or is someone else making Kodak film
and having it distributed by Kodak. The mind boggles at the implications.

Regards,

Marv

Hi, to my knowledge, Kodak ist NOT making film in China but a Chinese
manufacturer is doing it. If you want to know more, you could theoretically
address this question to Kodak's head of China operation, who is a very
intelligent lady, Karen Smith-Pilkington.

Bad news - soon Kodak will be selling Christmas lights and crayons to
stay afloat (like Polaroid).

Marv

A while back [2 years? 1?] Kodak bought a stake in Lucky film of China.
Odds are it's Lucky making the stuff. Part of the deal IIRC was Kodak QC help.

Kodak has established factories in China many years ago. Many of the
consumer 135 film are manufactured in China nowadays.

For the 120 or 135 Professional Film, it is still been manufactured in
Rochester.

I just picked up some E100VS. It states "Made in USA" and "Finished in
Mexico for Eastman Kodak Company". As long as the paper backing doesn't
get replaced with an enchilada I am happy with that. ;-)
