Not to slam P&S's or anything, but....
What is it with this obsession as to which is better?
They fill different needs and have different functions. A 50" high-definition home video theater is going to have a better picture than my little 8" personal DVD player. But does that mean that I shouldn't buy a personal DVD player? I would like to see him haul the home video theater around on business trips! I have BOTH types of cameras and use the appropriate one for the appropriate job. For everyday use, I don't want to walk all around town with an SLR slung over my shoulder. I would probably be prevented from entering many stores. I know that security at our local mall will jump on you if they see you have a camera with you. That little P&S in my belt pouch gets buy unnoticed, however. It is something that I can ALWAYS have with me. If I am planning on doing some picutre taking, on the other hand, I will carry the DSLR.
