FA: Get this 2.5 lbs of Sodium Metaborate for PMK Pyro or Ansel Adams' Compensating Developer (Divided D-23)
Selling supplies and equipment from the estate of a young
photographer. Originally, this bottle of Photographer's Formulary brand Sodium Metaborate held five pounds. It's now half full -- about 2.5 pounds or perhaps a little more of this useful chemical for the B/W darkroom. Kodak calls their Sodium Metaborate "Kodalk," or "Balanced Alkali" and this is how the chemical is designated in may formulas. It's the same stuff. Among many other formulas, Sodium Metaborate used in: 1. Gordon Hutchings PMK Staining Developer -- for "Pyro, Metol and Kodalk," practically a religion for many B/W photographers. See numerous discussions of PMK on the web. 2. Adsel Adams "Divided Compensating Developer." Adams says that "Two solution development can be effective for supporting shadow values while reducing high value densities." The formula and instructions are given in "The Negative." This bottle is about 1/2 full. It contains 2.5 lbs. The dark streaks in the bottle below are spoons. It has been stored in a dry room and should be good as new, but because it's an open bottle, I'm starting it off low. Someone will get a good deal on this useful chemical. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=7533910331 |
