Nova Processor - Too Fragile to Travel International?
Hi
Been trying to order used Nova Quad processor over the net but all the shops in UK seemed apprehensive abt shipping it overseas. The reason : it is too fragile, the equipment will not arrive at the destination in one piece. Is this true? Anything I can do abt it? Or it is not a problem if I purchase it brand new. Unfortunately, I cannot find a local distributor or shop that carries this pdt here. |

Nova Processor - Too Fragile to Travel International?
It's not a problem. I have had shipped two from UK to Sweden. And why should
the handling be more brutal when overseas? An overseas transport is actually two domestic. Of cource the packing should be appropriate. An advice is be to take out the heater units before shipping. They are rather long glas tubes that might resonate if there are vibrations, and break. It's easy to put them back again. Some grease and one minute for eatch of them. Tell the shops that Nova processors are shipped from Nova in UK to shops and distributors around the world. In one piece. I guess the reason they say as they do is that they are too lazy to do the packing job. You can also contact Nova direct www.novadarkroom.com and ask where to buy in your country. They are very friendly and helpfull at Nova, maybe they can ship one direct to you. My advice would be to buy an used at for example eBay. The price difference is huge, maybe 30% of the new price. I use a Nova processor (30 X 40 cm) several times a week for RA-4 work and I'm very satisfied with the processor. The only tricky thing is to adjust the temperature the first time, but when you got the right point on the scale then it's no need for fourther adjustments. Please note that the temperature scale is not correct, you have to check with a termomemeter untill you are at the right point. It is maybe 4 or 5 hours work, but only the first time. The normal time for heating from 20 degrees Celsius to 35 degrees Celsius is less the 2 hours. Victor "Black&White" wrote in message om... You must be looking in the wrong directions. http://www.bhphotovideo.com Search : Darkroom Term : Nova And you'll get 25 returns. The Nova is pretty good though they refuse to make the upgrades that many of us owners have recommended over the years. I bought mine in '94. Regards, John S. If you are short of space i am having great luck with the one-tray-technique which is especially useful for the larger sized prints because you don't handle the prints at all throughout the process. I do own two double 16x20in Nova print processors but I have to say I aren't using them much at the moment. I also have a couple of sets of the Nova non-jacketed 8x10 versions as well and whole heartedly recommend these for this size. Robust and easy to store... transport... Excellent. |
