If that is the case, and these people are importing Nikons from Europe.

How come the Cameras are nearly twice as expensive in Europe as they are in
USA?

And, when it comes to Warranty and Customer Service, what difference should
it make to Nikon where the Camera was purchased?

It was made and sold by Nikon, and it is hardly the customers fault if
Nikon, and the rest, are playing silly buggers with the prices they charge
out to their "Wholesale" offshoots.

Why should we, the end purchaser, have to suffer because of the "Clever"
marketing ploys of the producers.

If you lot don't sort out these stupid antics, then the European Union is
soon going to turn its attention to you, once it has completed sorting out
the Car Makers rip-offs.

Camera manufacturers frown on gray imports because they disrupt their
careful segmentation of the market, just as all-region DVD players
cheapen the price of DVD software - why pay through the nose for a DVD
in Japan when you can buy the same thing for half the price legitimately
in Thailand or India? If you buy a camera in one country and use it in
another is this the same? Most people buy brand name products because of
the implied world-wide after sales service. Manufacturers want to
trumpet one kind of service but deny another.
