If the doctors who are trained at Cook County Hospital (Chicago) are not being trained in government-run facility, then who is training them? No, I will accept that a state government can train doctors. but I was talking about the Feds, when I complained that they didn't train doctors in any of their military facilities, or Army hospitals. And I was very disturbed when they shut down these hospitals back in the 80's. How many doctors are taught every year in the Cook County Hospital? And how does the AMA handle this? They can lobby state senators too, can't they? Is Chicago a special case? Special case? Hardly. Medical schools are part of a university. Many universities are state universities. Graduates of medical schools go become interns in hospitals and then residents in a teaching hospital. Many teaching hospitals are state or county hospitals. -- I know that USC teaches 100 doctors a year.....In that huge, stainless steel campus, they only teach 100 lousy doctors a year.....What a crock!! I wonder how many doctors a year are taught nationwide. I bet its not enough to spit on. And this is the fault of government. Our congressmen are in the pockets of the AMA. I guess it really doesn't matter whether or not Obama's health plan is ratified. Its a lost cause anyway...... |

What I found is that USC Medical Center has 450 full-time faculty physicians, and 900 interns and residents. (Interns and residents are doctors in the process of being taught, in case you don't know that.) It could be that 100 residents leave the program each year after completing their residency. Some of the interns will leave the program and take up residency in other hospital's programs. Currently, medical schools in the US graduate about 19,000 MDs and DOs each year. If you can hawk up a loogie that sprays 19,000 people, you may be right. -- Tony Cooper - Orlando, Florida |
