Default Canon SX100 or Kodak Z812????

Anyone familiar with these two cameras which cost about the same and have
similar features. I have owned a Canon G3 and a Kodak Z740 and thought they
were both OK. This one is for my daughter who will be shooting sports
activities of her sons and school activities. Ease of use is an important
feature.

Any other suggestions for a long zoomand a $250ish price range?

Thanks.
Tom
