Note that one of the concerns is the carrier for the pigments.

Geeze image what would have happened if you had
seen the Paul Strand show first, or a show of Edward Weston...
we may not have had you in our presence :-)

Not to discredit AA, as a lot of his work was great.

Ilford

Ilford is actually first on my list to try, having used many of their
films and papers over the years. The smallest size available locally is
25 sheets of 8.5x11 and that makes it a little pricey, I wonder if you
can cut it down to a smaller size.... 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 maybe? I think I
have a trimmer from back in my fume room days. Does cutting damage the
paper at all?

I am in Canada, so ordering a box for $10 from PapersRUs in the US,
isn't an option, by the time you pay the shipping, exchange, duty,
brokerage fees, it makes the $24.99 price of the Ilford 25 Sheet 8.5x11
look cheap.... I can find it a little cheaper, by ordering it from
Photoco in Quebec, but will probably end up paying the difference on
shipping.

Also consider your posture. A couple of years ago I had a road accident and
went to see a chiropractor, he said a large portion of problems he sees are
to do with computer posture. Remember when your parents told you to sit up
straight? - Well they were right! Also using the touchpad on a laptop can
centralise your posture, which is tons better than sitting with one arm
sticking out to the side holding a mouse and making lots of tiny movements
for hours on end.

I try to use keyboard centric programs as much as possible, I find
hitting n repeatedly to view the next message easier then clicking on a
mouse. There is also another issue, the traditional place for a mouse
is beside the keyboard, but it doesn't need to be, you can put it in
front and push the keyboard to the side.

The biggest posture killer, chairs. Most cheap office chairs, like the
ones you typically find at work, are absolutely dreadful for your back,
because they either don't have enough adjustments or not enough range in
the adjustments. The chair I use, my wife can't, it hurts her back, but
not mine, because it's design is closer to my build.

Ah shucks, you really do care...

Not to discredit AA, as a lot of his work was great.

I was mainly into color back then (way back), but Strand
and Weston have also had their influence.

My boss doesn't use a chair. He keeps a couple in the office
for visitors.
