Olympus E-330 image is below. I'm just wondering, how do you clone
out all that crap in 5D image??

I've been here only for a while and I've noticed that you're almost as bad
as Vandeman.

You can carry around a can of air or a puffer and give the innards a quick
blast when you change lenses. There is also a very good tool called "green
clean" which you can clean the sensor with when the dirt becomes an
annoyance. www.green-clean.at . It's definately a user task. No need to
spend $75 AUD every week (as some do) on sensor cleaning!

I can tell you too, Rich that the dust reduction system Olympus are toting
is not all that crash hot. At least not on my E300s. It works but it lets
some through too. Usually re-booting the camera will get rid of it but all
it does is fall onto a sort of sticky surface, you don't actually get rid of
it, just move it elsewhere!

You wouldn't "clone" out anything. Not if you're using PS and you know
what you're doing. The tool of choice for cleaning up the odd spots in
that image would be the Healing Brush. The Spot Healing Brush if you
use CS2. It took me less than 10 seconds to clean up the image, and
most of that time was spent scrolling through the image looking for
spots to zap.

Also, almost all of the "dust" that bothers you soooo much disappears
if you resize the 5D shot to the same size as the Oly shot. The only
spot that was noticable (to me) was on the left side, at the base of
the clouds.

BTW, the two images are bogus for comparison purposes.

Tom,

Rich will never let reality or other peoples mileage get in the way of his
ranting and spruiking, just sit back and smile, one day he will take the
blue pill and it will all be better.

Cheers.

I saw exactly two spots that _may_ have been dust.

I'm wondering if their properly sealed cameras (what, you expected
sealing on a $3000 5D?? Perish the thought!) like the 1Ds suffer less
from this issue?
