One area film has it over digital

That is not "rendering" black - that is the total absence of data!

If you want that in digital just use levels!

If you think color film can compete with 16bit digital images you need to take a
course or something...

I shot Ilford BW for years and it had a super wide range, but it was BW... and
you had to know how to run a darkroom... and I don't think it was 16bits worth
but maybe. (each bit is roughly 1 stop)
