I recently read some comments from an ex-commercial photographer
considering returning to commercial photography because the
alternative career wasn't going well enough. This meant acquiring some
modern MF kit because in his chosen specialised market nobody without
MF kit was taken seriously. But also wondering if in a year or so the
new FFs likely to arrive from Canon, Nikon, and Sony might be good
enough.

Whether they are good enough then, or now will not change whether his
clients take it seriously. Well some may change eventually I guess.

Trevor.

The people I know shooting Canons in
studios are using 5Ds.

And obviously having more megapixels isn't that important or they'd be
using medium-format cameras.

I don't know *anybody* who uses medium-format digital.

And yet somebody is actually buying them.

Of course. Probably mostly photogrpahers more successful than the ones
I actually know.

"Good enough" and "taken seriously" are not necessarily as closely
related as one might prefer, either.
