Default does the sensor of automatica flashlight count ambient light?

i am considering of using an automatica flashlight to do fill-in
flash. in many cases, the add-in flash should be in the similar
amounts of the ambient light on the shadow which i hope bring one stop
lighter. so the flahs to sunlight radio is about 50-to-50. to archive
this, i need to know, does the sensor count ambient light? the
different answer will lead to different setup of aperture.

thanks.

It will measure the amount of light. It has no way of differentiating between
its own output and any other sources.
