Same here. What happened to them?

It's due to compliance with EU privacy regulations so some sites (such
as Washington Post) have you (Europeans) tick off an acknowledgement box
about what their nasty cookies (or something) do(es); other sites simply
say, "Screw Europe and its regulations." and block the site.

Yeah, that crossed my mind, too. That link is the only place I've seen
anything about this. That paper is based in Honk Kong, but there are a
