I will ask around, though, the best answer I got was to try a pool supply, but that went nowhere. Hmm, I asked (in the UK) at a local chemists if I could buy a winchester (the glass bottle for holding chemicals, not the rifle) and they did not know what one was! Fortuately you seem to be able to mail order chemicals and ID-11 and a few others is available in town (just). Pete -- http://www.petezilla.co.uk |

Why would you want to use HC-110? That crap is like battery acid to film. I dunno. Not bad at 1:1 for PlusX. |

Well, the advice is a bit late, but a respectable developer can be made from pretty common substances: Vitamin C, Coffee, Tylenol... Tylenol even sounds like a developer...... |

I went digital a few years back, so my darkroom days are over. I spent enough time in there (former professional). But if you like golf ball sized grain, HC-110 will do the trick. |

Back in my film days I only used it a couple of times because it was so bad. D-76 1:1 was the order of the day until T-Max came out and I switched to T-Max developer. |

Why would you want to use HC-110? That crap is like battery acid to film. I used it for years on 4147 Plus-X and 4164 Tri-X. It worked just fine. I mostly used Dilution-B which is somewhat like D-76. Sulphuric Acid would almost not be a suitable component of a developer unless you want to use something really exotic like Titanium trichloride (20% solution) 75 ml EDTA (tetra sodium salt) 100 gm Sodium Acetate, anhydrous 20 gm Potassium bromide 4 gm water to 1000 ml Hydrochloric acid to pH 4.0 Try 5 minutes at 20C. You may wish to dilute this and use a bit more bromide. Possibly sulphuric acid could be substituted for HCl, but why risk it? -- .~.
