Nikon Prices inceases in Canada.

I think the guys who are waiting for the D3x to come down to $5,000 are
going to be waiting a long time. Why they think Nikon can sell a camera
that is better than the Canon 1Ds Mark III for $3,000 less in the face
of a declining dollar is a complete mystery to me. As it is, some
dealers will not stock the 1Ds because the margins are so low. If you
want one, you have to special order it. The D3x may end up there, too,
but I don't see the price coming down $3,000. Maybe half that. Maybe
not even that. The D700x might be $3,000. Maybe. I don't see it being
less than the 5D Mark II, especially when it first comes out.

But the lenses are definitely going up.

Nikon just before Christmas raised prices on an average, about 10% on lenses
and accessories, cameras weren't
raised then as to not affect Holiday sales, but Nikon did raise them last
week. For example the AF-S 70~200/2.8 VR was selling locally as low as
$1,650 CAD, now it's just under $1,900. That looks like a price increase to
me!

Many dealers didn't raise prices on their on-hand stock, but expect
increases on their stock turn-over.

D300 body is now $1599 to $1799.00, depending on where you look. The D3x
is still $9500 or so, which is what you would figure the Can. price would
be. D700 can still be had for $2899.00. We'll see if it changes once
current inventory is gone.
