Default Io Transit of Jupiter through a Fieldscope

The seeing conditions were not great and it is just a snapshot but here
it is. The shadow of the moon is just SW of center:

It's a good result for conventional photography with a small scope. I
get something similar with my setup too.

Here is an example of what the best amateur astrophophotographers are
producing using webcams and lucky imaging (shift and add software). He
does quite a bit of imaging for Patrick Moore's Sky at Night programme.

That image is better than professional ground based images from a
decade ago. One side effect of so many people video imaging Jupiter at
high resolution these days is that many more things hitting into Jupiter
with a flash and a bang are being seen. And most times there are at
least two independent records providing confirmation of a strike!
